Celebrating California with clay & images
Look for that moment when water glistens, cresting over a rock in a stream bed or resting still in a tide pool. Each piece in this series is a one-of-a-kind creation from the geology of a specific landscape in California.
Night and porcelain clays combine to form unique compositions. Each design is created with clay dust on contrasting clay.
Cecilia Combs, known by many of you as Butchie from her childhood nickname, makes treasured renditions of leaves by pressing them into clay. She explores each variety of leaf as if a new found friend, and experiments with compositions and how that leaf is rendered until the beauty of the piece matches its inspiration.
